Hofstra University

With the assistance of a 2014 New York State Empire Grant, Hofstra University’s Gittleson Hall has become a science collaboratorium. This is a group of labs, classrooms and computer facilities where faculty from multiple disciplines are working together on research projects and preparing their students for careers in the biotech, environmental science and health services fields. Faculty from Biology, Geology, Environmental Science and Sustainability, Bioengineering and Chemistry may collaborate on projects ranging from soil analysis of urban landscapes to bone replacement compounds. Updated molecular and cellular analysis equipment are used by all students in both classroom and research settings to better train students for 21st century jobs.
