The Student Recreation Center offers undergrads access to a great cross section of in state-of-the-art facilities. A 35-meter swimming pool, strength and aerobic room, basketball courts, climbing wall, locker rooms, and student lounge comprise the 130-thousand square feet of indoor space. 40 club sports and 40 intramural teams are also based here, as well as a number of fitness classes, personal training services, and health clinics. The outdoor rec center offers classes and gear rental for activities such as biking, kayaking, spelunking, and whitewater rafting.

Seven acres of outdoor space also play host to track and field facilities, soccer and lacrosse fields, and the McGugin Center. As a matter of tradition, football players begin each home game here by making the "Star Walk" from their locker rooms across the street to Vanderbilt Stadium, carrying the ceremonial anchor and high-fiving loyal Commodore fans along the way. And if this weren't enough, more than 8-thousand square feet of new fitness space is being added to the Student Rec Center as we speak. The renovation should be complete by 2014.
