SIU began in 1869 as a teachers college and to this day remains a leader in education and now in human services as well. U.S. News and World Report ranks us among the top 100 Best Education Schools in the country and the National Council on Teacher Quality ranks our teacher education programs among the top nine percent in the U.S. Our human services programs have earned many accolades as well and we provide hands-on learning opportunities and crucial services to the community through our Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders and our other centers and projects. The College of Education and Human Services is a diverse college offering about 30 different majors and specializations.
