Z_OLD Blough-Weis Library

The Blough-Weis Library is a place you'll get to know well during your four years! The first floor is designed to meet the needs of students: plenty of study spaces and rooms for group collaboration, easy access to technology and to the ever helpful librarians. Plus, Scholarly Grounds is the perfect place to grab a late night study aid … locally-sourced coffee, espresso and snacks! And if you want a little more peace and quiet, the upper floor where the book collections are found is the perfect study spot. But you don't need to come to the library to use its resources. You'll have online access to the library's database through your student account.

Global Opportunities (GO)

Susquehanna understands the importance of cultural competency in today's economy. When you graduate, you'll be prepared for the global marketplace thanks to our nationally recognized Global Opportunities program, or "GO" as we call it. As a student, you will study away from campus—for as little as two weeks or as long as a semester, and come back more self-confident and independent, with the kind of global competence that employers seek. Who knows, it might be your favorite part of your Susquehanna experience! You will see firsthand how different social and cultural forces shape the world around you, and discover how you can make a difference. You can GO abroad, or GO to a different area in the U.S. You can even design your own learning or service trip. Z_OLD Garrett Sports Complex

The Garrett Sports Complex is a center for student activities and varsity, intramural and recreational sports – a great resource for all students. The three-story fitness center houses weight training and fitness equipment and offers a great view of campus while you work out. The field house has a newly resurfaced track surrounding four basketball courts and is where convocation, graduation and other major campus events are held. Garrett is home to an indoor swimming pool, racquetball courts, a sports medicine and athletic training room, a gymnasium and offices for the coaches and athletics staff of our 23 NCAA Division III varsity teams. Plus you can relax and enjoy lunch from Bento Sushi in the student lounge. It's a great place to refuel after your workout or grab a quick bite on your way to class.

TRAX (Student Entertainment Venue)

TRAX is a student-managed entertainment venue located on campus with a dance floor, DJ booth, billiards area, bar, performance stage, high-tech lighting and an outdoor patio. Student organizations host events on Friday and Saturday nights. In the cold February weather, students flock to TRAX with warm thoughts in mind for the annual Beach Party. Most activities are free and many offer free snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. Alcohol is served only to those over 21 years of age with valid ID and designated wristband.

First-Year Residences

During your first year at Susquehanna, you will live in one of our First-Year residence halls: Reed, Smith and Hassinger or possibly Aikens Hall or the Scholars House. These traditional-style residences are co-ed and feature single, double, and some multiple rooms. They include heating and air conditioning, common areas, lounges, and/or study rooms, as well as kitchenette and free laundry facilities. All are equipped with Wi-Fi and are within an easy walk to our academic buildings and the Degenstein Campus Center. The resident assistant staff members assigned to each hall are specially trained to assist you with new student concerns. They are committed to making your residential living experience beneficial to your growth and development as well as your academic pursuits. And they're a great resource for discovering all the fun things to do on campus.

Sassafras Complex -Upperclass Residences

On-campus housing is guaranteed for all four years and our upperclass students have many options! Sassafras Complex, located on the southern end of campus near the athletic fields, is a mix of upperclass residence halls: Shobert Hall, March Hall, Isaacs House, Roberts House, Ross House and O'Connor House. Students live in apartments, townhouses and suites that include lounges, study rooms, laundry rooms, bike storage rooms and kitchenettes.

West Village - Upperclass Residences

West Village is a popular residence choice for upperclass students. Each of the seven buildings holds up to 48 students living in suite-style residences that have a lounge, laundry room, kitchenettes, and bike storage rooms as shared common areas. There are classrooms in the lower level of each building and five of the seven are LEED-certified green buildings. West Village is a great place to live if you want easy access to the Degenstein Campus Center and still feel like you're living off campus!

Degenstein Campus Center

Degenstein Campus Center is the heart of campus life. Everett Dining Room offers a variety of all-you-can-eat meal options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Or grab a bite at the food court in The Hawk's Nest. Or get your caffeine fix at Starbucks or the student-run Charlie's Coffeehouse. Many student organizations are located here also. Are you harboring an inner DJ? Then WQSU is for you! Our radio station broadcasts in High Definition at 12 thousand watts and is the most powerful student-operated college station in Pennsylvania. The theater and art gallery are great places to experience the amazing talents of our students. Or, delve deep into diversity and social justice issues with our Center for Diversity & Inclusion. The Center sponsors an annual Activist in Residence, who works with students to explore identity and diversity through the arts. And, of course, you'll want to stock up on some SU gear and get your textbooks at the campus bookstore!

Geisinger Student Health Center

Susquehanna has partnered with the nationally recognized Geisinger Health System to offer a state-of-the-art student health center with high quality, compassionate and confidential medical care in a welcoming, safe and supportive environment. Our team consists of a medical provider and professional nurses who are available for sick visits, physical exams, women’s and men’s health issues, preventive care and more. And, during the academic year, we offer a phone triage service after hours and on weekends. In addition to the Student Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services, also known as CAPS, provides a confidential environment to collaborate on your mental wellbeing. Students can receive free services, such as group and individual counseling, workshops and seminars, mindfulness and yoga classes and more throughout the academic year.

Writers Institute

The Writers Institute is home to Susquehanna University's nationally recognized writing program and delivers an outstanding experience to its creative writing majors. The accessible, expert faculty members are accomplished, published writers and recipients of numerous national literary awards. Acclaimed authors visit campus each year to give readings and engage with the creative writing students. The institute serves as the nucleus of a vibrant community of published writers and houses faculty offices, classrooms, conference space and a library where students come to connect and unwind. Three student-run literary magazines provide the chance to get published and gain practical experience.

Natural Sciences Center

The Natural Sciences Center is home to the departments of chemistry, biology, and earth and environmental sciences, including the interdisciplinary neuroscience and ecology programs, as well as the offices for the health care studies and pre-professional programs. In addition to the collaborative research with faculty you will do as a science major at Susquehanna, you will have full access to more than one million dollars' worth of modern science facilities equipment, including scanning electron microscope, fluorescence microscopes, DNA sequencer and cell-culturing facilities, behavioral digital tracking systems, cadaver lab, a rooftop greenhouse and 87-acre on-campus field station with research greenhouse, experimental plots and field lab facilities. Plus, the Susquehanna River is located only a mile from campus and is a great resource for student research and study. All that research can make you hungry … so stop by The Periodic Table, more commonly known as Ele's, for a bite to eat!

Z_OLD 18th Street Apartments - Upperclass Residences

The newest residence option for upperclass students is the 18th Street Commons, located on the northern end of campus near the Geisinger Student Health Center and the Natural Sciences Center. These apartment-style residences offer an attractive alternative to students looking for more independence in their on-campus housing. Each apartment comes with a full kitchen, so a meal plan purchase is optional. Plus you get a living room, dining room, and bike storage. A common building houses a lounge, laundry facility and outdoor grilling area. Up to 284 students can live in the 18th Street Commons.

If so, you'll probably spend time working in the Art Studio, located on the northern end of campus near the Admission House and North Residence Hall. Seibert Green is a picturesque and historic section of campus where you'll find several academic and administrative buildings. Bogar Hall is home to the modern languages, philosophy and religious studies departments. Those choosing to study history, political science or economics will become very familiar with Steele Hall. Seibert Hall is a multifaceted facility where you'll find student housing on the upper floors and classroom spaces, Isaacs Auditorium lecture hall, the education department, the offices of the Registrar, Information Technology and the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences on the lower floors. Selinsgrove Hall is where you'll find the Business Office and the President's Office, along with other administrative offices.

Located on the second floor of Fisher Hall, the Career Development Center offers support starting in your first year at Susquehanna. Apfelbaum Hall - Business & Communications

Apfelbaum Hall is home to the Department of Communications and the AACSB-accredited Sigmund Weis School of Business. Susquehanna University has the ONLY private, undergraduate-only business program to earn AACSB accreditation and Chartered Financial Analyst recognition, while guaranteeing international internships. Business students also get hands-on learning in the state-of-the-art student investment center, a functioning trading room with Bloomberg terminals that allow students to monitor and analyze the financial markets, and place trades in real time all while earning Bloomberg Certification in their first year! Our communications majors enjoy access to superb production facilities and equipment, including an audio, video and graphics lab; multi-camera television studio with green screen; and professional-quality audio and video field equipment. Cunningham Center for Music & Art

Cunningham Center for Music and Art is home to the university's premier performance space: Stretansky Concert Hall, a magnificent 320-seat venue designed specifically for music performance. Studio art and graphic design students have access to a fully equipped photography space and a state-of-the-art dedicated graphic design computer studio. Music practice rooms and group rehearsal areas allow students to gain experience under the guidance of expert faculty mentors. At Susquehanna, non-music majors are able to pursue their passion for music too, and can audition for performance opportunities with the department.

Kurtz Lane

Picturesque Kurtz Lane is the main walkway connecting one end of campus with the other – a straight shot from Garrett Sports Complex to Weber Chapel, lined with our iconic ginkgo trees. The lane passes by several academic buildings and the expansive Smith Lawn, where you'll find students playing Frisbee or catching some sun. Kurtz Lane is the path you'll walk to attend opening convocation as a first-year student and your commencement ceremony on graduation. Kurtz Lane is where your Susquehanna student experience both begins and ends!

Z_OLD Special Interest Housing

Students involved in special interest groups, such as fraternities, sororities, professional societies, and living/learning groups, have the opportunity to reside together in special interest housing available across campus with many located on University Avenue. Here you'll also find the chaplain's residence, the Hillel House and Pine Lawn, home of Susquehanna's president!

Center for Environmental Education & Research

At Susquehanna, we believe that a sustainable, vibrant and just planet begins on campus. The Center for Environmental Education and Research is part of our effort to make change in our community and around the world. SU has a 14-acre solar array, which supplies 30% of our campus electricity needs. And a flock of 27 sheep tends the grass around our array! Our campus garden, fueled by collected runoff water and campus compost, donates nearly 800 pounds of produce per year. And, thanks to a $2.25 million grant, our Freshwater Research Institute is working hard to make the Susquehanna River a cleaner waterway. We have helped to add over 200 streams to the protected list! With a dedicated laboratory and professional equipment for river research, faculty and students are working collaboratively with a network of nonprofit groups, government agencies and other academic institutions within the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay Watersheds.
