Roth Quad

Buildings: Cardozo, Gershwin, Hendrix, Mount, and Whitman Colleges

Campus Residence Style: Roth Quad has suite-style buildings, in which four or six residents of the same gender share two or three bedrooms, a private bathroom, and living or dining area. There are two types of suites: cooking and non-cooking. The common rooms in cooking suites are furnished with dining tables, chairs, and cooking facilities; common rooms in non-cooking suites are furnished with couches and end tables. Residents dine at the Roth Food Court. All Roth Quad rooms are air conditioned. Gershwin College offers the option of cooking and a 24-Hour Quiet Community.

Location: Close to academic buildings and Tabler Quad, Roth Quad surrounds a pond-the site of the annual Roth Pond Regatta, a Stony Brook tradition that brings students, faculty, and staff together to race across the pond in watercraft made of cardboard and duct tape.

Undergraduate College of Science and Society: All freshmen at Stony Brook are placed in an Undergraduate College, based on shared interests. Students have easy access to academic advising and their Undergraduate College faculty director, as well as small one-credit seminars located within this campus residence. Those placed in the who choose to reside on campus, will live within this Roth Quad Undergraduate College community.

Environmental Studies Living Learning Center: All transfer students have the option to join a Living Learning Center, based on shared interests. Those electing to join the Environmental Studies Living Learning Center and live on campus, will live within this Roth Quad community.
