Rothko Chapel

Just behind the Guinan residence hall is the Rothko Chapel, an intimate sanctuary for people of all beliefs. The chapel features the deep purple and black canvases of Mark Rothko, a Russian-born American painter. The chapel is not part of the University, but was founded by Houston philanthropists John and Dominique de Menil who had a relationship with the university for many years.
