Bailey and Kathy Aalfs Auditorium Originally one of the region’s largest assembly halls when constructed in 1923, the Aalfs Auitorium received a full renovation and its new name (formerly Slagle Auditriou) in 2011. In addition to improving lighting and acoustics, the renovation included the completion of an historic E.M. Skinner organ – one of the few remaining examples of his unaltered work. The auditorium has played host to concerts from contemporary bands such as New Republic and Blues Traveler as well as performances of musical theatre, orchestras, ensembles and soloists. The building and auditorium were named in honor of the recently deceased USD president (1914-29), Robert L. Slagle in 1929.
