Half as long as a football field, the Horse Barn is a tangible reminder of the Morris campus' agricultural roots, and the only barn left from the Agricultural Boarding High School days. Today, it houses students' horses making Morris one of the few colleges where both you and your horse can live on campus!

It's an incongruous sight on a liberal arts campus: this grand old barn, half as long as a football field, nearly 100 years old and still housing animals! The Cattle Barn was built in 1914, to house the Experiment Station's beef and dairy herds. On July 13, 1950, a spectacular fire engulfed the hayloft. No animals were lost in the 1950 fire, but 40 tons of alfalfa hay burned, and the original gambrel roof was destroyed. It was replaced by a splendid, Gothic-arched roof supported by laminated rafters, which provided more hay storage.

The imposing Cattle Barn now called the Saddle Club Barn is a tangible reminder of the Morris campus' agricultural roots, and the only barn left from the Ag School days. Today, it houses students' horses making Morris one of the few colleges where both you and your horse can live on campus!
