One of the biggest selling points for current and prospective students in the MMET program at Oregon Tech is the 10,000 ft2 machining facility that houses a large quantity and variety of manual, semi-automated and computerized equipment. Students from all of the degree programs in MMET are required to take the MFG 120 class where they learn about the safe use and application of hand-tools, milling machines, lathes, band saws, grinders and cutting tools as they are used to make a variety of parts and components. Good work habits are also instilled in our students during this time. For example, they are accountable for the quality of the final products, maintenance and clean-up of the work area and first and foremost the SAFETY of themselves and others. The shop is used throughout their Oregon Tech careers for projects and class support, including senior projects.
