Water, water, everywhere… students learn and apply fluid principles in the Hydraulics Laboratory, studying flow measurement, energy losses, and utilities infrastructure. Closed-conduit (pipes) and open-channel (streams and canals) flow properties are discovered using a wide variety of scaled pipe, channel, gate, culvert, and spillway structures. Using the sediment flume, students also have opportunities to study sediment stability and transport in channels and around river structures.
